These activities link to the topics of plants and living things and their habitats.The activities are designed to build on your earlier knowledge and develop ideas and skills within grouping and classification.

Some of the activities are designed to  help you differentiate between living and non-living things and make careful and accurate observations. Activities then look at how to sort and group items and apply these skills to make and use keys.

The resource includes a presentation which details the many uses of plants and how and why we classify them, including many examples. It also looks at the work of Karl Linnaeus in developing a system of classification. Also included are: examples of keys, images for use in class or home, worksheets and additional notes on grouping and classification.

 

This grid has lots art activities plus more relating to Plants and Living Things that you might want to explore. It would be brill to see some pictures of any work you have done at school or at home on the blog.
