OFSTED

On the 30th & 31st February 2024 Ofsted visited Coley Primary School and confirmed that we continue to be a GOOD school!

Please see the letter that we were sent following the inspection.

A message from our Chair of Governors

As the Chair of the Governing Body at Coley Primary School, it gives me great pleasure to be able to share with you the report following our recent OFSTED inspection.

When I first read the report I thought that it gave a clear picture on what it is like for your children to attend Coley Primary School, a place where everyone is welcome and where pupils are rightly proud of their school.  You will already know that the school has high expectations for everyone, regardless of their background, but that it is also one that responds to every pupil's needs to help them meet those expectations.

I am delighted that the report recognises, from its opening sentence, that staff put pupils are at the heart of everything they do, including the significant work that they have undertaken over the past few years to ensure that pupils have the curriculum and knowledge that they need to flourish and develop at school, and into their lives beyond Coley Primary.

There are two areas in the report that I would ask you as parents to consider how you can support and help your children.  The first relates to literacy, I was so pleased to see that your children's enthusiasm for reading books was included in the report. I hope that you will support your children by helping them to read at home.  It will make a huge difference to their lives.

The second is attendance. The inspector noted that the school does all it can to ensure that your children attend school, and our experience over the past few years has taught us that schools are the best places for children to learn and I would encourage you to make sure that your children are at school as often as possible.

I hope that you will agree that this is a very positive report for Coley Primary School and, for me, it demonstrates that when the school, the pupils and their families work together then pupils are able to flourish, and we look forward to continuing this partnership with you.

Finally, I am sure you will join me in thanking the staff and volunteers at Coley Primary School for all the work that they do with our pupils.

Yours sincerely,

Matt Espley
