Parent Governor Elections October 2023

WE ARE RECRUITING FOR VOLUNTEER PARENT GOVERNORS

Do you feel you have the time and energy needed to help drive the school forwards in helping all children to fulfil and exceed their potential?  We welcome people from all backgrounds and no prior knowledge of how schools work is necessary – training will be provided.  We would especially encourage any of you who have any background in finance, marketing, personnel, sales, running a business, but also if you feel you are a good talker and listener and would be confident that you can speak out to help make a difference then we would like to hear from you…

Governors have a general responsibility for the conduct of the school with a view to promoting high standards of education achievement. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • approving school targets for student achievement
  • monitoring the school’s finances
  • making sure the curriculum is balanced and broadly based
  • appointing staff
  • reviewing staff performance and pay

For your information:

  • All meetings are held in the evenings (usually on Tuesdays or Thursdays) starting at 5.30pm, for approximately 2 hours.
  • We meet approximately 6 times per Academic Year, plus there will be extra training sessions which we will ask you to go on as these help you carry out the role effectively.  These sessions are usually in the evenings or on Saturdays.
  • Once elected you will be expected to attend all governors’ meetings that you are invited to and serve for a period of four years from the date of your appointment.
  • You do not have to stand down if your child leaves the school but may do so if you wish.
  • This is an unpaid/voluntary position

To apply please complete and return your Parent Governor Nomination Form by Thursday 19th October 2023.

Please return your completed forms to Miss Emma Goldring - Returning Officer by Thursday 19th October 2023 (3.30pm)
