Junior Carers 2025-26

Say 'Hello' to our Junior Carers

At Coley Primary, we are very excited to be taking part in the Royal Berkshire Hospital Junior Carers Programme again this year! This is our third year being involved in this special project with the NHS.

The Junior Carers Programme helps children learn about health, helping others, and the many different jobs in the NHS. It also gives pupils the chance to become School Health Ambassadors, helping to share healthy messages around our school.

Children in Year 4 to Year 6 heard all about the programme during a visit from Mrs Sharon Herring, Associate Chief Nurse. She shared some amazing facts about the NHS. We were surprised to learn that there are over 350 different jobs in the NHS and that more than 1.4 million people work there!

This year, we received many applications, showing just how excited our pupils were to be involved. Choosing our new Junior Carers was very tricky! We selected children who understand what it means to be a Junior Carer, enjoy helping others, show our Coley values, and are kind, responsible and keen to learn.

We are really proud of our new Junior Carers and can’t wait to see all the great things they will do this year!
