Mobius Maths Hub
We are excited to be working with the Mobius Maths Hub this year to help review, develop and continue to move forward in our commitment in the mastery approach.
More information about the Mobius Maths Hub can be found through the link below.
The Maths curriculum is covers the following areas:
Using and Applying Mathematics
Using Maths to solve a range of practical problems and communicating and reasoning ideas.
Number
Learning to read and write numbers, count and look for patterns. The children learn to calculate and develop a range of different methods for addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. The children will learn about fractions, decimals and percentages and also use their number and calculation knowledge to solve problems.
Shape and Measures
Learning the properties of different shapes and how to use and read a range of measuring equipment.
Handling Data
Collecting a range of information, for example the number of birds using a bird table, and making pictures, charts and tables. The children also learn to ask questions of, and interpret, a range of data.
We want our children to become good mathematicians who are able to see mathematical opportunities across the curriculum and be able to apply the skills to real life situations.
My Maths
We use MyMaths in school as part of our homework activities to enable children to play the games and to practise the skills and concepts they have learned in Maths lessons. However we do not set specific homework on MyMaths.
MyMaths is a fully interactive, online mathematics learning solution for children of all ages and abilities. It helps your child to develop their understanding of maths through a variety of engaging activities, games and assessments. We use MyMaths to support the children's learning because lessons are clearly laid out and they fit current recommended practice.
You can find your child's MyMaths log-in details stuck in their Reading Record. If you cannot find them or need another copy please ask at the school office.
As a parent, you can work alongside your child when they log in to MyMaths at home. You will be able to support your child’s learning by seeing what they are working on and checking their progress.
Have a look at this handy PowerPoint for some guidance on helping your child use MyMaths. It will also answer any questions you might have about installing it on different devices at home.
